Interview
When i first joined dance class I was curious to know the real reason why Sadhana became a bharatanayam instructor. So, after class I went up to Sadhana, and we started talking. I asked her when she started, and she said “I have been learning dance about fourty years. I was thought in new Dehli, India. I graduated with a masters degree in classical dances, not only i know Bharatanatyam, however I know Kuchapuri ( another type of dance style), dancing has always been my passion.”
Sadhana is very extraordinary when she had to balance school and dance school. Her father made a deal with her, if she started to lack in school, then she had to stop going to dance school. So, she agreed with her father. But she had to get there herself. It took her three hours to travel from where she have lived to dance class. Sadhana was so committed to getting there and making it on time. When she graduated from high school i was on cross roads on either studying medicine or in arts. After she realized she put about fourteen years of dancing, she then chose dancing as her career. As majoring in dance, she also learnt different dance styles and bharatanatyam. She did her masters in dance and graduated as a gold medalist in dance. Sadhana took every opportunity she was given in her way and went all out. After pursuing in dance, Sadhana moved to New York twenty years ago, she said “I remember when I came here I was one out of four, teaching Bharatanatyam. I considered myself having wonderful students and would be the future of Bharatanatyam , and would continue it with generations and generations to come.”
I dedicated myself to do. Then I moved to New York twenty years ago, I remember when I came here I was one out of four, teaching Bharatanatyam. I considered myself having wonderful students and would be the future of Bharatanatyam , and would continue it with generations and generations to come.”
After hearing Sadhana’s story about how she started, it made me feel that I can also relate to her. I am balancing school and dance school. Dancing has been my passion since I was ten years old. I had to beg my parents to join a dance class. Dancing has always been a hobby I love to do. However, when I do graduate, I want to open my own dance school. I would want to pass my dancing techniques to the girls that are learning dance in the future.
